Well as Team Captain I thought it best that I should get round to writing my description seeing though i've done everyone else's, so here it goes ...
Well I am Team Captain of Allstars Flyball team and I now run my own 5 dogs and I seem to have 'collected' a few new ones which I run for other members of the team too.
I started off in flyball by boxloading whilst Andrew ran Snoopy, by being able to stand back and observe more often I was able to learn alot about the sport which has stood me in good stead over the years. We then got Tullulah who when she was old enough started her flyball training... unlike Snoopy who had picked it up on day one, Tullulah was somewhat more difficult, she had no interest in balls, couldn't catch to save her life and when she got hit in the face by the ball after failing to catch it was then terrified of the box. After a few challenging months I got her back again and she has proved to be a great dog. Whilst running her in starters I also Captained the starter team's she was in, again gaining valuable experience. A few more years on i was teaching flyball at Dig It Dogs and basically running the flyball side of the club so with this I decided that it was time I did it properly and set up Allstars Flyball Team.
After a hard day of running teams and racing dogs I can normally be found sat with the rest of the team, gabbing away and organising the next days racing. This normally accompanied with a glass of wine, malibu or woo woo which is an essential in decision making :)
I am one of the youngest, if not the youngest team captain in the UK which is a great privilage. This has also been a struggle trying to gain the respect of other flyballers which has made the first year of Allstars a hard one, however I believe I have been successful with gaining peoples trust and increasing the positive awareness of the club and I can now happily say that I would call several teams throughout the UK close friends. I have also been taking a more active part within the sport this year having branched out in to Judging where next year I would like to apply for my Head Judge training which if successful would put me with a handful of people in the UK.
